Media Studies
One facet of Guardian Lutheran School’s (GLS) mission statement entitled “Purposeful Innovation” states, We develop diverse opportunities to prepare our children for real-world success in the 21st century. In response to this goal, GLS offers a Media Studies program for 6-8th grade students. This course seeks to provide opportunities for students to create and collaborate video productions about various topics.
The program is divided into 3 classes (Writing for Production, Public Speaking and Video Production). During the first semester, students focus on how to create videos. In each class, students learn the skills necessary to write for, speak during and produce videos. During the second semester, students continue to create, but collaborate by working in groups with members of the other media studies classes to produce complete video presentations. Over the course of three years in middle school, each student will have the opportunity to be part of each Media Studies class.
